Roisin Murphy has just released her latest album, Roisin Machine, which sees the Irish artist nailing down her position as an alt-pop icon. Murphy's lyrical form is as sharp and playful as ever, while her voice is every bit as brilliant as it was when she burst onto the scene in the '90s as the lead singer of Moloko.
Murphy brings to her art first-hand experience of UK clubbing's glory days. She's a long-time raver, earning her stripes in the clubs and warehouses of Manchester in the days before Moloko and the solo career that followed. From her home studio, Murphy spoke with RA's Martha Pazienti-Caidan about her early rave epiphanies, why she prefers wooden dance floors and her upcoming collaboration with DJ Koze.
