- The French experimentalist will release a new album on Low Jack's Editions Gravats label later this month.
Editions Gravats will release Black Zone Myth Chant's Mane Thecel Phares on February 25th.
Black Zone Myth Chant is an alias of the French musician High Wolf. Under the latter name, the globetrotting artist (known only as "Max") has released a prolific stream of psychedelic drone music on labels like Not Not Fun, Shelter Press and his own Winged Sun imprint. The Black Zone Myth Chant project started with the 2011 release Straight Cassette, in which he integrated screwed-up hip-hop influences.
The new record, which the label refers to as an "exceptional slab of squashed, Afro-centric psychedelia," comes via Trilogy Tapes affiliate Low Jack and Jean Carval's fledgling Editions Gravats. The music consists of polyrhythms, drones and slowed-down vocals and is said to follow in the footsteps of Sun Ra, DJ Screw, and Vox Populi!
