BBC DJ and Bestival organizer Rob Da Bank will take the reins of Soma's Sci-Fi-Lo-Fi mix series next month.
The DJ, whose 2005 Fabric mix still gets a spin every once in a while at RA towers, has crafted a decidedly un-dance music tracklist for Soma. Following in the footsteps of Andrew Weatherall and Damian Lazarus, da Bank instead indulges his rock jones with selections from Jesus & Mary Chain, Ride, Spiritualized and Slowdive. Rob does made some nods towards electronic music Boards of Canada's "Zoetrope," Ulrich Schnauss' "On My Own" and M83's "Teen Angst," but the focus here is on atmospherics—not body-shaking material.
