- Stevie Kotey's Bear Funk imprint will release a CD full of previously unreleased material next month.
Bear Funk are set to launch a new compilation series next month, entitled Hibernation.
Stevie Kotey's Bear Entertainment network of labels has been pumping out quality disco-inflected material since the turn of the century, but this is Kotey's first venture into the realm of unmixed CD packages. The Hibernation series promises to compile "a few greatest hits of the previous months, the future smashes and some exclusives unavailable elsewhere," but the first volume will treat listeners to thirteen previously unreleased tracks. Greg Wilson, Blackjoy and relative newcomer Enzo Ponzio all contribute fresh remixes. While Ronda, Free Disco, King DJ and Robert Auser all deliver nu-disco cuts that are tailored for the dance floor.
One of the most anticipated tracks, though? That'd probably be Kotey Extra Band's "Daybreak," which sees the Bear boss hook up with Hans Peter Lindstrom to give the Norwegian studio wizard's astral synths an Afro-tinged funky disco backbone to groove upon.
