- Snoop Dogg, Lou Reed, De La Soul and more will guest on the virtual pop group's third album.
Gorillaz will release their first album in five years, Plastic Beaches, next Tuesday.
The back story for the record is as follows: "The band have taken up residence, recording on a secret floating island deep in the South Pacific, a Plastic Beach HQ, made up of the detritus, debris and washed up remnants of humanity. This Plastic Beach is the furthest point from any landmass on Earth; the most deserted spot on the planet."
Plastic Beaches will be the third full-length by Gorillaz, the animated pop group founded a decade ago by Daman Albarn of Blur and British cartoonist Jamie Hewlett. As usual, the duo have enlisted a diverse array of high profile guest appearances for the record, including Snoop Dogg, Mos Def, De La Soul, Lou Reed, Bobby Womack, Mark E Smith of The Fall and Gruff Rhys of The Super Furry Animals.
Staying true to form, Gorillaz have concocted some multimedia shenanigans in support of Plastic Beaches, this time "taking over" The Guardian's music section, where you can now hear the album streamed in its entirety.
