RA visits seven European countries as we round-up all the goings on this New Year's.
The selection of parties across Europe this New Year's is about as vast as the continent itself, so join us as we take a whistle-stop tour through some of the highlights.
Beginning in Belgium, and more specifically Ghent, the ICC will welcome back the What's Cookin'? crew for a party with Baltimorean producer Karizma, Luna City Express and local lads Red D and San Soda. Over in Leuven, Martinez has booked to entertain at Silo, while Brussles institution Fuse will call on Monika Kruse and SIS for their gathering. If you reside in or around Antwerp you might want to save yourself for the 1st, as Circoloco come to the city's Cafe d'Anvers, with the always charismatic Seth Troxler in tow.
As was the case last year, Paris' promoters haven't jumped on the idea of bringing in international names in order to fill their clubs, but there still some nice options on January 1st, with Le loup and Jef K heading to Showcase, while Wareika play at Rex.
Dublin is looking similarly low-key in terms of marquee names, but Ewan Pearson's appearance at the Twisted Pepper should be one to savour.
Moving further south, and Italian clubbers will have plenty to look forward to. Saponeria Club's party with French producer Anthony Collins looks to be a popular choice among RA readers in Rome, as does the rather massive looking Rephlex Records takeover of Palazzo dei Congressi, where Aphex Twin will share the stage with DMX Krew. Marco Carola and Loco Dice are both lined up for Atlantico's celebration, while over in Florence, Richie Hawtin and his Minus cohorts Troy Pierce and Gaiser make themselves comfortable at Tenax. Cocorico in Riccione have bagged themselves a ten-hour back-to-back spectacular which sees Ricardo Villalobos and Luciano going head-to-head, and for more of mixed-bag offering Moodymann is set to play at Mantova club, Moxa. Down in Napoli, meanwhile, Golden Gate will be the place to catch Zip, Davide Squillace and Giuseppe Cennamo performing under the Circo Loco banner.
The Dutch capital has its share of good parties offer, the largest of which will see promoters Amsterdam United set-up at Gashouder with 2000 and One, Joris Voorn and Adam Beyer. Trouw have bagged Pampa/Kompakt man DJ Koze for a four-hour set, and Freerange's Jimpster will headline Studio 80.
Barcelona is another city sans major names, although the Row 14-backed Elrow New Year's Morning Party that is set to run for a full 12 hours. With sets from Chris Liebing, Ambivalent and Paco Osuna, it should be worth a look. Madrid, on the other hand, has veritable orgy of massive names come New Year's Day: Day One at Palacio De Vistalegre has Richie Hawtin, Matthew Dear, Loco Dice, Luciano, Reboot, Troy Pierce and more than a dozen others, while on the other side of town, the Space of Sound festival packs in Paul Kalkbrenner, Ricardo Villalobos, Sven Vath, Sander Kleinenberg, Josh Wink, Booka Shade, Chris Liebing, Ellen Allien and many more.
Our final destination takes us to Switzerland. Bern's Kornhaus will open their doors for an open-ended party that sees Chic Miniature (Guillaume & The Coutu Dumonts and Ernesto Ferreyra) play live, while Deetron mans the decks. Borderline in Basel will look to keep the interest burning from 22:00 until 15:00 the next day, and have entrusted Tiefschwarz, Der Dritte Raum and Len Faki to head-up their bill. If you're closer to Zurich, there's a couple of soirees vying for attention, including Dinky's appearance at Pfingstweide, and Wareika's live performance at Cabaret.
