  • The final issue of long-running Australian dance music magazine 3D World will hit streets next week. After what has been a turbulent two years for the publication, its owners, Street Press Australia, have decided to pull the plug. The trouble began in 2009, when 3D World's then parent company, Destra, was forced into receivership, with ownership of the magazine itself eventually landing in the hands of Street Press Australia. Since then, 3D underwent extensive format and content changes, while also spreading from its original Sydney base to be published in Melbourne and Brisbane on a weekly basis. Founded in 1989, the magazine is currently one of the oldest Australian music magazines, with over 1,000 issues published in total, each covering both local and international music. A statement issued by Street Press Australia—whose titles also include Drum Media and Time Off—explained that the magazine could no longer remain a standalone publication in today's media market. "This is a reflection of the current scene," they said. "Electronic dance music and hip hop are no longer their own subcultures but fit with the general music scene."
