- The Search Engine collects recent productions from Strictly Kev and a group of collaborators.
DJ Food will release a new full-length called The Search Engine on Ninja Tune in January.
DJ Food was originally made up of Kevin Foakes, Patrick Carpenter and Coldcut members Matt Black and Jonathan More, but today its only core member is Foakes, AKA Strictly Kev (though more often than not he's got someone in the studio with him). The Search Engine collects highlights from DJ Food's three latest EPs: The Shape Of Things That Hum and One Man's Weird Is Another Man's World from 2009, and Magpies, Maps & Moons, which comes out on November 8th. Among the album's many guest artists are industrial pioneer JG Thirwell (AKA Foetus), The The frontman Matt Johnson (who sings on a cover of his own band's song, "GIANT"), and original DJ Food member Patrick Carpenter, also known as PC.
Thanks to Foakes' knack for design (he dreamed up all the packaging for Ninja Tune's 20th anniversary compilation), The Search Engine will be available in a few different formats: digital download, traditional CD digipak and a comic book with a CD and bonus track on a 7-inch flexi-disc. The album will be DJ Food's first in 11 years, after 2000's Kaleidoscope.
