- Due out in March on Planet Mu, Barry Lynn's new project showcases his more psychedelic side.
Boxcutter, AKA Barry Lynn, will release his first album as The Host later this month.
A Mike Paradinas' tweet in mid-January announced: "New signing on Planet Mu THE HOST." There was no indication that this was a new pseudonym for Lynn at the time and details on the project have remained vague in the lead up to the album's release. The Host is a shift of direction for the Northern Irish producer who, under his Boxcutter alias, has released a couple of EPs on Scuba's Hotflush Recordings and four albums on Planet Mu that move between conventional and more experimental dubstep. His new full-length as The Host is a more textured and ambient work with a psychedelic edge courtesy of Lynn's heavy use of vintage synthesisers throughout the album.
