- The deep house artist travelled back to the Ivory Coast to produce his next album, which is due for release this month.
Mr Raoul K will release a new album later this month called Mande.
Though he's lived in Germany since 1992, Raoul Konan grew up on the Ivory Coast, and his work—deep house with a streak of West African traditional music—reflects this dual identity. Mande (the name of a large body of related languages and ethnic groups in West Africa) shows him exploring his heritage more than ever before: Konan returned to his hometown of Abidjan to record it with his old band, creating an album that bridges the gap between traditional manding music and European house and techno. The creative process is captured in a short DVD documentary that accompanies the CD release.
Mande will see release on Chicago's Still Music. Deetron makes a guest appearance, remixing the track "Sierra Leone."
