- The duo behind the vinyl-only label have announced details of a collaborative album.
Experimental techno label Violet Poison will release its first album in March.
Confusingly, both the label and one of the artists who run it use the name Violet Poison. The artist—a well-known techno producer working under a pseudonym—co-runs the label with Repitch Recordings' Shapednoise, and together they produce as Violetshaped. This is the duo behind the label's first album, with a press release stating that LP was inspired by "60s and 70s Italian horror movie directors and obscure vintage noise, electronica and industrial music."
To date the Violet Poison label has mostly remained a conduit for the two bosses' own productions, but last year they called on Roly Porter, Vatican Shadow and Kangding Ray to contribute to the first instalment of an ongoing remix project. Meanwhile it has also emerged that Vatican Shadow's L.A. based Hospital Productions will release solo albums from both Violet Poison and Shapednoise in the coming months, with the former's Prussian Blue and the latter's The Day Of Revenge both due out on cassette in March.
