- The Hyperdub chief has compiled the latest edition in the UK radio station's ongoing series.
Details of Kode9's Rinse:22 mix have been revealed.
The 27-track selection is Steve Goodman's third commercial mix, following 2006's Dubstep Allstars: Vol.03 and 2010's DJ-Kicks effort. The tracklist reveals the inclusion of plenty of Hyperdub talent, with Burial, Terror Danjah and DVA among those featured. There's some house and techno included early on—Theo Parrish and Joy O both appear—as well as plenty of grime, while the second half is seemingly devoted wholly to juke, with eight of the final ten tracks featuring footwork lynchpin DJ Rashad. There also several Kode9 tracks, including upcoming single "Xingfu Lu."
"Things just stretched out a bit more," says Goodman of the mix, which is apparently a snapshot of his current DJing style. He adds: "This style has just emerged out of me trying to fit all the stuff I want to play into a set. Generally these sets start relatively simple rhythmically and then get more fucked-up as the mix goes on." Rinse:22 will also mark a shift in approach to the mix series: whereas previous instalments were all mixed by DJs with regular slots on the station, a press release says Rinse will now "cast its net wider" for future editions.
