The American label reunites the likes of Glass Candy, Chromatics and Farah for their follow-up to the seminal 2007 compilation.
After Dark 2, the follow-up to Italians Do It Better's 2007 label compilation, is out now through iTunes.
The original After Dark compilation introduced the world to Italians Do It Better's indelible sound, which infuses Italo disco with bits of indie, post-punk and experimental music. It had been out of print for some time before Johnny Jewel, the label's musical mastermind, posted a remastered version of the compilation to his SoundCloud late last year. Those familiar with the first After Dark will see some familiar names names turning up on 2—Jewel-fronted groups like Glass Candy, Chromatics and Desire are all here—plus newcomers like Appaloosa and Twisted Wires. No word yet on a physical release. Check out the video for Chromatics' contribution, "Cherry," below. The album and tracklist was originally announced last July, but never actually materialized on its supposed October release date.
