- The duo will release their first EP on PAN at the end of this month.
Regis and Russell Haswell have teamed up on PAN under the name Concrete Fence.
The UK duo worked together as Concrete Fence last year when they performed live at a Blackest Ever Black party in London. Their first official release comes nearly a year after that collaboration. They seem like natural partners: Regis is Karl O'Connor, the brain behind Downwards, one of techno's most important labels, whose work homes in on the genre's darkest impulses. He was also a key member of the equally influential Sandwell District. Haswell, meanwhile, is an experimental music icon who often explores the same creepy territory as his counterpart, albeit in a manner that's less concerned with the dance floor. The simply-titled New Release (1) comprises three new tracks with a heavy emphasis on serrated textures and industrial touches, treading techno waters as well as touching on dancehall and dub. Head over to PAN's SoundCloud page to listen to a snippet of the EP.
Tracklist
