Giorgio Moroder, Andy Stott and Phuture will all appear at the winter festival.
Sydney will again be lit up for 18 days in May and June for Vivid festival.
As always, the Sydney Opera House will be the event's central hub for all things music related, with the venue's Vivid LIVE programme showcasing artists like Pixies, Lauryn Hill and St. Vincent. The first two weekends of the festival will see a number of local crews hosting dance parties at The Studio underneath the Opera House, beginning with a Siberian Nights gig on May 23rd where Andy Stott will make his Australian debut after his planned visit in 2013 was postponed. Label heads Midnight Juggernauts will bring their new Aerials audio-visual show, and the bill will be completed by Sydney's own Black Vanilla, Forces and Cassius Select.
The following night sees the return performance of Since I Left You, an Avalanches tribute concocted by Jonti and the Astral crew for OutsideIn last October, kicking off at 8:30 PM. Astral People will again take over The Studio on May 30th, bringing Phuture to the stage along with Night Slugs artists L-Vis 1990 and Bok Bok, as well as Melbourne producer Andras Fox. Future Classic will host their party on the 31st with a lineup yet to be announced.
While the late night events will be happening underground, upstairs the Opera House will be filled with a number of other special appearances. The Presets will be joining forces with the Australian Chamber Orchestra on May 25th and 29th to play "the likes of Vivaldi, Mozart and Bach to Miles Davis, Bob Dylan and Nirvana," while Goodgod will be presenting Penny Penny from South Africa on May 30th. 1970s disco innovator Giorgio Moroder will be giving a free talk on June 1st at 5 PM, which will be followed by a DJ set down in The Studio from 7 PM. Upstairs, running in parallel, will be a tribute to Moroder's work by The Heritage Orchestra, a 50-piece outfit from the UK. Moving away from the harbour, Modular will be teaming up with the festival to host three days of music and art at Carriageworks, with Pet Shop Boys playing two shows on June 6th and 7th.
The full programme, along with tickets, can be found on the Vivid Sydney website.
