RA's guide to SXSW 2015

- Electronic music has become an important part of the annual gathering, and we've put together some of this year's highlights.
- In dance music, we tend to think of WMC or ADE as the big industry gatherings. More and more each year, however, Austin's SXSW is becoming an important part of the electronic landscape too. It takes place next week—from March 17th through 22nd—and we've compiled a brief guide to some of the most promising showcases of the week. It's not definitive, and we've kept it to mostly official SXSW events, but it's a good place to start. Whether you're looking to scout out exciting new talent or just dance, there's plenty out there. Start off your week on Tuesday by setting sail with the Surefire crew, who are bringing Kode9 and MikeQ out on the open seas for a boat party. Once evening rolls around, you've got the choice of EPROM repping Rwina over at Barcelona, or TOKiMONSTA and Daedelus playing for Paypal and HE^RD at the Empire Control Room & Garage. On Wednesday, we recommend our own RA party at the Vulcan Gas Company—with Total Freedom, SOPHIE, Bob Moses, Untold and Tessela among the attractions. Thursday is a big night for electronic music at SXSW. Love 'em or hate 'em, the PC Music showcase at Empire is probably worth checking out. Fort Romeau and Palmbomen II will be flaunting sounds from their new records at Plush, and Surefire will host another party with Avalon Emerson and DJ Earl in tow, this time at Barcelona. Two of Europe's finest clubbing cities are in the spotlight: an after-midnight set from Berghain resident Boris is a must-see, and that'll happen at Berlin Beats over at Lucille. Around the same time, ADE will be showing off Amsterdam talent at Highland Lounge with Awanto3 and Cinnaman. Friday has some good left-of-centre options. Ben Aqua's #FEELINGS will take over Plush, Cartel and Thread will host a Jersey club-themed party at Barcelona with DJ Sliink & Nadus and then LA's Leaving Records will hit Empire with Ras G and Samiyam. The Moog and Switched On party on Saturday is one of our big highlights for the whole week, with a doozy of a double-header—Marcel Dettmann and Matrixxman—at Elysium. Failing that, Salva will headline Nest's shindig at Kingdom, On The Sly will throw a killer-looking grime party with Rabit and Celestial Trax, and then there's always Canadian boy wonder Ryan Hemsworth at the Hype Hotel.
