Arthur Russell's Instrumentals to be performed across Europe

- Peter Gordon will direct and play in a series of nine shows in May and June.
- Arthur Russell's Instrumentals Directed By Peter Gordon will tour around Europe from late May. First performed by Russell, Gordon and several others in California in 1975, the live work was inspired by the nature photography of Yuko Nonomura and signifies a meeting point between concert hall performance and pop. It was nearly 40 years later, in 2012, that Gordon—founder of the Love Of Life Orchestra—resurrected the project with a new interpretation that debuted at The Kitchen in New York, complete with four other original players from the '75 sessions. Now he'll be bringing the show to seven countries around Europe with an eight-strong cast that also features DFA's Gavin Russom on synths and Foom Music boss Benjamin Freeney providing DJ support. Ireland is their first stop, with shows at Triskel Christchurch in Cork on May 22nd and Button Factory on the 23rd. London also gets two shows—Islington Assembly Rooms on the 24th and Cecil Sharp House on the 25th. Next, they'll head to Paris on the 27th to perform at Villette Sonique 2015, and Barcelona on the 28th for Primavera Sound Festival. A pair of German gigs on May 29th (Karlstorbahnhof in Heidelberg) and June 1st (Schauspiel in Cologne) will be broken up by an appearance at Bad Bonn Kilbi Festival in Dudingen, Switzerland on Saturday, May 30th.
