- Joseph Deenmamode will drop his second album in late October.
Mo Kolours will release Texture Like Sun via One-Handed Music on October 30th.
The album, Mo Kolours' second, follows last year's self-titled LP debut, a record which RA's Kristan Caryl described as a "spontaneous sonic collage that leaves the mistakes in." On the new record, the Anglo-Mauritian producer continues to follow an idiosyncratic path.
In the press release included with news on the album, he says "[Texture Like Sun] is about cycles. From the tiny cycles of loops within songs to the broader cycle of the whole album, which is designed to take you away and bring you home again at the end." He says "you hear [this approach] in lots of African music, in jazz and hip hop."
The 19-track effort includes a few covers—versions of the Isley Brothers "Harvest For The World" and The Stranglers "Golden Brown" look back to his earliest musical memories. The record also integrates elements of hip-hop, soul and dub, his productions akin to West Coast beatsmiths such as Madlib in some places, and Theo Parrish or Moodymann in others, according to the label.
He'll play a release show at Oval Space-related venue The Pickle Factory on November 12th, and plans to tour extensively in support of the new long player.
