- The German has linked up with visual artist Valentina Berthelon on his latest project.
Tobias Freund has announced details of a new album and audio-visual collaboration.
The name of the project is Recent Arts, and it sees Freund link up with Chilean visual artist Valentina Berthelon. Along with a new A/V live show, they’ve crafted a ten-track album, due out on Freund's Non Standard Productions on March 30th. The pair have been heavily inspired by science and mathematics, and draw upon material from these fields when composing music. Sonically, the LP is percussion-free, traversing drone, noise and industrial-tinged fare. The music was created and performed with an application based on Max/MSP, which was developed by Max Loderbauer and Tom Thiel.
The project's A/V component is based on improvisation, with an emphasis on synchronising images with sound. Stream a preview below.
