- It's called Nordic Mediterranean Organization / Numerous Miscommunications Occur, and it's due out next month.
The experimental duo N.M.O. have signed on for an LP with Diagonal Records, due out in a couple weeks.
The project consists of Norwegian artist Morten J. Olsen alongside Barcelona-born Ruben Patiño. Their performances borrow from conceptual art schools like Fluxus, and tend to integrate live drums and movement routines with their noisy electronics. N.M.O.'s 13-track debut album includes "five sweat-busting, stentorian set pieces, four succinct German Trained Unit drills and four locked grooves, all sequenced to oscillate your heart rate," the label says.
They go on to name-check "current Portuguese dance music," "NYC no wave" and "early Belgian techno" as reference points, though they also say the duo is best understood as a "disciplined practice and process unto itself." Track lengths range from seven seconds to eight minutes. The first 100 copies of the record will include a Rush poppers bottle full of hot sauce made by Alexander Krone, a multimedia artist and sauce maker based in Amsterdam.
