- The Chicago artist released her first record with Dance Mania back in '96, and is back with her first LP following a long hiatus.
Jana Rush, AKA JARu, will release her first album, Pariah, via Objects Limited in July.
The Chicago native released her first 12-inch in 1996, a split EP with ghetto house legend DJ Deeon for Dance Mania Records. Rush only put out a couple of records before taking a 13-year break from producing music to focus on her career. These days she works as a chemical engineer at an oil refinery by day, and at night she work as a CAT scan technologist, though she also has a background as a paramedic and firefighter.
London label Objects Limited linked up with her for an EP last year, and now she's following it up with a 12-track footwork album that touches on "jungle, acid, soul, jazz and house," the label says.
Listen to the album cut "No Fuks Given."
