- Pollock, who collaborated with Aaron Funk as Poemss, has put out an album of leftfield electronic pop.
Joanne Pollock's debut solo album, Stranger, is out now via Timesig.
The Canadian singer and producer released an album with Venetian Snares, real name Aaron Funk, in 2013 under the name Poemss. Pollock then self-released an EP called Optimist in 2015, and this week her debut full-length, Stranger, landed on Funk's label, Timesig. It's a collection of electronic pop songs that range from "unsettlingly calm" to "ferocious explosions of caustic noise," the label says.
Speaking to the themes of the LP, Pollock says: "Stranger explores the multiplicities of selfhood—what defines us, where the boundaries lie."
Listen to "Carnival."
