The venue brings a new concept, design and program to the space formerly known as Studio672.
A new club called Jaki is coming to Cologne.
Located in the basement of the Stadtgarten, the city's center for jazz and contemporary music, JAKI's name pays tribute to German drummer and Can band member Jaki Liebezeit. The space has been redesigned from its former venue Studio672, offering a new direction in programming for both evening concerts and club nights.
JAKI will open with a three-day mini-festival, running from October 2nd through 5th. On the first two nights, the program is dedicated to hybridizations between Western and Arab music, featuring a club night with Deena Abdelwahed and Zuli, and concerts from Nadah El Shaz and Matthias Main. On October 4th, local collective Cologne Sessions will host Mama Snake. The final night, October 5th, introduces JAKI's Saturday series called Tom-Tom Club, which will be a free-admission party focusing on local artists. Jan Schulte AKA Wolf Müller and Phaser Boys are onboard for this one.
