The global dance music scene has spawned many heroes, but very few gained this status without some serious labour and vision. Beloved British drum & bass DJ and producer Kenny Ken and MC Foxy are two honcho’s at the top of their field and at the top of the list when it comes to achievers.
Originally blending acid house, garage and Detroit techno, Kenny Ken started playing Breakbeat in the early '90s, with the music morphing into ragga jungle and the like soon after. He built a solid reputation via his smooth "mix and blend" stylings and had an underground hit with his first production, "Everyman," in 1994. His label Mix & Blen' and its sister label Cold Steel which he runs with his brother Stingray and the G Squad are pushing him high up the producing ladder. In 1999 he collaborated with DJ Rap, forging labels and forces. Kennys reputation is legendary having performed at cream of the crop events all around the world including regular stop offs in Australia, Japan, Canada and the U.S, not to mention most European countries.
MC Foxy started MC’ing in 1991 when he was encouraged to pick up the mic at a friends club night. His first real experience within the industry came courtesy of his cousin "the riddim killa" Rodney P, when he took Foxy on tour with him, when he was supporting Queen Latifah on her UK dates. Immediately after, he began travelling all around the UK doing gigs and had a 4 year stint at Kool fm, playing various time slots and calling the set ‘the downtempo show’. In 2003 MC Foxy won the ‘Worlds #1 MC award’ at the Knowledge magazine awards proving how far the man has come.
DJ Kenny Ken and MC Foxy are touring Australia during March and April. Also representing for drum'n'bass are the UK's DJ SS and Twisted Individual of Formation Records, DJ Skeletrik, Killa Kela - one of the baddest beatboxers to ever rock the mic and MC Trip. Fans in Melbourne and Perth are in for a HUGE treat as all the above international acts are making an appearance for The World Of Drum'n'Bass tours in each respective city. With the metronome peaking around 175 bpms, this one is sure to rock.
