- It arrives on Cooking Vinyl on March 27th, and one of the tracks is a tribute to the late Stephen Hawking.
The Orb will release a new album on Cooking Vinyl next year.
Alex Paterson's 17th album, Abolition Of The Royal Familia, is meant to act as a pair with 2018's No Sounds Are Out Of Bounds. The new LP sees Paterson team up with Michael Rendall, who was previously a member of his touring band and a studio engineer, as his main writing partner. Youth, Roger Eno, Steve Hillage and Miquette Giraudy (of Gong and System 7), David Harrow (of On-U Sound) and more feature on the record.
"Hawk Kings" is a tribute to the late cosmologist Stephen Hawking, who Patterson once met at a lecture; he was later told Hawking used to listen to The Orb. Meanwhile, "Slave Till U Die No Matter What U Buy" is a "cosmic overhaul" of Jello Biafra's (of the Dead Kennedys) "Stay In Your Home."
Paterson will also tour the UK in May 2020, with support from Mad Professor and Don Letts.
