  • Ecology of Care is curating a panel discussion for Resident Advisor on Monday, January 24th as part of our wellness month offerings. The discussion, entitled "Winter Of Care: Alternative Tools And Strategies To Support Ourselves And Each Other," is free to attend and will be hosted on Zoom from 6 PM through 7:30 PM CET. Ecology Of Care is a new, ongoing series about community care, harm reduction and mental health for people and communities who are often at the fringes of society. "While the seemingly never-ending Covid-19 crisis continues to unfold in various ways around the globe, our need for more accessible mental health support feels especially crucial right now," Ecology Of Care wrote to RA. "This conversation will look at how to organize outside of traditional therapeutic structures, putting both self and collective care, communication and harm reduction at the forefront. We'll also discuss how to nurture meaningful connections within our music communities as we oscillate between the new normals of reopening and isolation." The panelists, selected by Ecology Of Care, include Pauli Cakes from the New York-based mutual aid platform and label Discakes; rafi from TS Raver, a trans-led harm reduction collective in Berlin; and Kemoy Jemmott, a Black queer psychodyamic counsellor and sex educator also based in Berlin. jarral boyd, a Berlin-based allyship trainer, linguist, educator—and member of Berlin community space aequa—will moderate. Having recently completed a mental health first-aid course for BIPOC, Boyd also works on sharing tools for self-empowerment, empathy and anti-racism. The panel will be followed by an open Q&A session and a harm reduction resource list curated by Ecology Of Care. The recording will later be shared on the Resident Advisor and Ecology Of Care websites. You can purchase a free ticket here. Attendees will be contacted with a Zoom link to log in on Monday.
