Running across four evenings in October and November, Producer Pioneers will feature talks with Honey Dijon, Flava D, Emma-Jean Thackray and Lucinda Chua.
Resident Advisor and Classic Album Sundays are hosting a series of free events for producers at East London venue Colour Factory in October and November.
Producer Pioneers will invite four revered producers—Honey Dijon, Flava D, Emma-Jean Thackray and Lucinda Chua—to go deep on their approach to writing music. They will be interviewed and asked to discuss seven of their tracks in detail, as well as providing general tips and equipment advice.
The interviewers are Classic Album Sundays founder Colleen "Cosmo" Murphy (Honey Dijon, October 18th), Raj Chaudhuri (Flava D, October 25th), DEBONAIR (Lucinda Chau, November 1st) and Tina Edwards (Emma-Jean Thackray, November 8th). The sessions will begin at 7 PM GMT.
"I feel now is the time to highlight the women who make up the small 6 percent of the UK's music producers," said Murphy. "As I began producing 25 years ago, this pursuit isn't only professional, but personal. Our Producer Pioneer series will celebrate the women who despite many challenges have made major inroads in this currently male-dominated arena."
She added: "Our aim is to celebrate these women producers and to share their stories and advice to inspire other women to realise their own hidden talents. Together we can begin to level out this playing field, too."
Supported by Danley and Audio-Technica, the series will be recorded and later published on RA, so anyone unable to attend can still listen. RA and Classic Album Sundays will also release some educational tools to help budding producers put the lessons into action.
Free tickets to the sessions are available here.
