- Four sessions in total will take place in October.
Resident Advisor and online radio station Refuge Worldwide have confirmed another round of free workshops in Berlin.
Four sessions are planned in October: three intermediate DJ workshops and a workshop run by RA staff. Intended for DJs looking to build on their skill set and fine-tune techniques they already use, the workshops will take place at Refuge Worldwide HQ in Neukölln, hosted by Juba on the 10th, Nick Höppner on the 17th and Mor Elian on the 24th.
Juba's session will focus on mixing techniques like EQs and spin backs, as well as looking at mixing for radio versus for DJ sets and how to mix different genres. During Nick Höppner's workshop, participants will be shown how to get the best out of Rekordbox, looking at creating playlists and organising their music collections. Mor Elian will then lead a practice back-to-back session.
The final session, scheduled for the 31st, will take place at RA's Berlin office in Friedrichshain. RA staff will lead the workshop, focusing on artistic development and navigating the music industry.
There are six to eight places available for the workshops and participants will be expected to commit to all four weeks. We encourage applicants from under-represented communities to apply. Please apply here.
RA and Refuge Worldwide have hosted 13 DJ workshops since July 2021. Past mentors include Call Super, Palms Trax and rRoxymore, while several former attendees—Hala, Rosie, Jessica Korp—have since had guest mixes on Refuge Worldwide. Korp also has a regular show called State(s) Capture(d) Mixtapes.
