  • Howard Williams, AKA Japan Blues, has released a three-track album on Demdike Stare's label, DDS. Out now, Japan Blues Meets The Dengie Hundred was created in collaboration with Japanese folk singer Akari Mochizuki, as well as vocalist Tamami Pearl and Hibiki Ichikawa, a master of the classical tsugaru shamisen stringed instrument. The Dengie Hundred, one-half of the Blackwater duo, co-produced the album, which relies heavily on field recordings captured by Williams in Japan. The release is available on limited-edition transparent orange vinyl and as a digital download. This is the first release in six years from Williams, who put out the debut Japan Blues album, Sells His Record Collection, in 2017. Williams, who has a monthly show on NTS Radio, also runs EM Records, which releases recordings of Japanese folk music as well as new ambient and electronic material.
