RA's Dekmantel conference to host Donato Dozzy, Martyn, Ikonika

- We're taking over EYE Film Institute all day on Thursday, August 3rd.
- Resident Advisor is returning to Amsterdam's Dekmantel Festival this August to host a day of panels, workshops and screenings. The free conference will take place from 11 AM through 10:30 PM on Thursday, August 3rd, at EYE Film Institute. The artists taking part include Donato Dozzy, Martyn and Ikonika. The day's programme will begin in the IJ Lounge at 12 PM with a two-hour broadcast journalism workshop led by RA's senior producer, Chloe Lula. Participants will learn the basics of audio production and editing for broadcast, as well as how to write a podcast script. The rest of the day in the IJ Lounge will feature production workshops from Martyn and Ikonika, followed by a label workshop led by Bitter Babe and Verraco of Tratratrax. Ikonika's session will look at how she organises her library and templates, and what she does outside the studio to find inspiration. The label workshop will discuss finding a concept, understanding your community, mastering and more. In Cinema 2, the programme will begin at 1:30 PM with a screening of Getting It Back: The Story of Cymande, a documentary on the unsung British funk group whose music has had a marked impact on hip-hop, soul and more. Then, Souhayla Ou-Oumar will host a live RA Exchange with Herrensauna resident Salome, before Chloe Lula hosts a live Art of DJing with Freddy K. After that, RA's editor-in-chief Whitney Wei will lead a Playing Favourites with Donato Dozzy. The day will round out with a live score of Nitai Hershkovits' 2021 rewrite of the iconic Le Planete Sauvage, performed in collaboration with L'Institut Francais. 2023 will mark the sixth edition of RA's conference partnership with Dekmantel. The festival proper runs from August 2nd through 6th. Sign-up forms for the various workshops will open across RA and Dekmantel's socials next month.
