  • Resident Advisor and London queer festival Body Movements are collaborating on a series of workshops and discussions. The event, held on Saturday, July 22nd, will split two programmes of activities—Body Works and Body Talks—across multiple venues in Hackney Wick, East London. The festival proper will take place a week later, on July 29th. Body Works will span several skill-sharing workshops, including a beginners introduction to DJing with Adonis resident J. Aria, a masterclass from Body Movements cofounder Saoirse and an introduction to impact play from sex-positive event series Slut Social. J. Aria will teach the fundamentals of track analysis, playlisting, hardware navigation and beat matching, while Saoirse caters to DJs with more experience, focusing on gig preparation, rekordbox tips and tricks, and deeper playlist construction. To ensure the workshops are as beneficial as possible, they'll only be available to a limited number of guests. The Body Talks programme will feature an extended discussion on queer history at The Yard Theatre. Drag icon Lavinia Co-op will sit down with writer and performer Ginger Johnson. The talk will cover a selection of memories and experiences from five decades of queer performance and activism. Tickets for Body Works and Body Talks are available via the RA event listings below, with all profits going to London Trans Pride. The Yard Theatre is fully wheelchair accessible, including an accessible toilet with a wide, outward-opening door. Hearing dogs and guide dogs are also welcome. The following week, Body Movements will return for its third edition across 16 venues in Hackney Wick. 100-plus acts have been confirmed, including Avalon Emerson, TYGAPAW and Octo Octa.
