  • Bristol record shop Idle Hands is reopening at a new central location this Wednesday, November 20th. After shutting in August 2022, the beloved store will relaunch this week "with a carefully curated selection of new and second-hand records," owner Chris Farrell told Resident Advisor. "I'm eager to hear from customers about what they're looking for and will shape the stock accordingly. A record shop is always a work in progress." He added: "I'll be revealing the new location and our opening hours this Wednesday, so be sure to follow us on Instagram for updates. DJ Skillis (who will be working alongside me) and I look forward to welcoming customers old and new." To celebrate the reopening, Farrell is throwing a party at The Red Church next Friday, November 29th. He'll play back-to-back with Milly On Air and Marion Hawkes, owner of the Sound Advice shop in Belfast. "Marion is a kindred spirit whose record shop in Belfast has been an inspiration," he continued. "DJing at her store last year reignited my passion for running a record shop after several false starts." Back in 2022, Idle Hands shut its former and long-running City Road store due to struggles caused by Brexit and the Covid-19 pandemic. To help with the hunt for a new location, Farrell set up a crowdfunder, which hit its goal and raised £12,143 in 42 days. Read Idle Hands' latest Instagram post.
