Damian Lazarus and DJ T. man the decks for the second installment of ‘Monza Club Ibiza’ on Get Physical.
The mix series is the CD arm of the club night Monza, which was founded by DJ T. and Patrick Dechent in their hometown of Frankfurt in 1999. These days Monza is in Ibiza – the 2007 season kicked off at Privilege last Thursday (Those on the mainland can catch a Monza party at Catwalk in Barcelona on Sundays, too.)
The 2CD mix follows on from Heidi’s ‘Vol. 1’ last year, focusing on minimal and electro-influenced house and techno. The first disc is mixed by Lazarus, the mastermind behind London label Crosstown Rebels, and looks to be focusing a little more on current deep house with contribs from Efdemin, Jamie Jones, Phonique and Stefan Goldmann, while DJ T. from Get Physical looks a little more to house’s past on disc two, including cuts Schatrax's 'Mispent Years' from 1995 and Arto Mwambe's modern take on classic vocal house 'Ombala Mbembo'. There’s also an unreleased Claude VonStroke cut, ‘Groundhog Day’, which promises to be “trancey”.
