- The English trio will release their second album in September.
English art-poppers Metronomy will release their second album, Nights Out, this September.
The three-piece hardly sounds like an electronic band on a cursory listen, but if you dig for a moment or two, it's almost impossible not to hear the off-kilter funk of Nights Out as anything but music to dance to. Echoing the self-contained sonic world of acts like Talking Heads, Soft Cell, and Sparks, the trio creates their own sound.
Differences between this and their debut? Many. But the most obvious is the addition of more vocals to the mix, which add a more pop air to the proceedings. At the same time, the group also sounds like a group, and not the solo project of Joseph Mount. But you can judge all this for yourself in a bit, or listen to the band talk about it by clicking that little play button right below these words.
