- Best known for his remix work—Late of The Pier, Bat For Lashes and Mystery Jets have all been given the treatment—the Londoner and fabric mainstay Duke Dumont strikes out on his own on Tiga's Turbo Recordings.
With "Street Walker," Dumont grabs a deep-register vocal of indistinct provenance and cuts it up and loops it ad nauseum. To that he adds Don Carlos-style '80s deep house synths and a galloping rhythm. In a certain light, it's a distant cousin to Wildchild's classic breakbeat house cut, "Renegade Master." Riffing on the theme, the Alternative Version keeps much of the original intact—that vocal, those synths—but takes it deeper, moodier and acidic. "Thunder Clap" continues the acid attack, marrying it to clunking, ping-pong percussion and fierce 808 handclaps.
