- Following her contribution to the This Is How We Roll compilation, Emmaline Davies now makes her full debut for Dusk & Blackdown's Keysound. Whereas the Londoner's Rainbow Dust EP for Wavey Tones back in February owed a stylistic debt to Cooly G's frenetic drums and the shadowy allure of Zomby, "Jahovia" is far more roots orientated.
Coinciding with the release of his album as Congo Natty on Big Dada, Michael West features under his Rebel MC moniker, leading the track over a spacious framework of washing synths and choppy percussion. Davies' production is complex yet understated, giving West's Rastafari toasts resonating clarity. LV's Will Horrocks concentrates his remix on the vocals, filtering half the segments down indistinguishably, while other passages are cloaked in towering echo, adding to the spiritual vibe. The beats are stripped back to a light shuffle and replaced with ebbing pulses, resulting in an offbeat tribal sound that aligns with LV's more recent output.
