- Paris's Concrete became one of Europe's best parties thanks in part to its combination of headiness and class. Most of the music released on its label arm could be described in similar terms—a polished, floor-focussed streak runs through almost every release. Paris local and Concrete family member Ben Vedren handles the outfit's latest piece of wax, D3, supplying three poignant house tracks.
The stunted beat of "Space Lab" gets D3 started. A husky vocal snippet loops for its duration, bundled with sporadic claps, hushed white noise and a steadily building collage of spacey samples. "Comas Sola" is more straightforward, dubby and driving—a no-holds-barred house tool. The epic nine-minute title track has a French feel (fellow Parisian Chloé's 2011 remix of Arnaud Rebotini is in the same vein), collecting warped chords, snappy hats and a solid snare. These elements combine for a cut that will surely inspire eyes-closed-on-the-dance-floor moments.
