- Next up on Aussie based EQ Grey comes a nice tech house two tracker from PJ Davy. Many will be familiar with the a-side as it appeared on James Zabiela’s ‘Sound in Motion’ mix compilation.
Call It What You Want is the track on the a-side, and it begins in a melodic fashion with trickling rings of sound floating above a smooth set of drums and deep baselines. Vocal snippets come into the track midway as it flows in a smooth fashion, until a dark stabbing synth gives the track a gritty edge. It is a very smooth yet chunky production by PJ.
1 Hour Second on the flip is just as quirky as the a-side, with a stuttered drum pattern uniting with a wobbly baseline. The baselines intensify mid way into the track becoming a little more evil, and they work brilliantly well in the breakdown as unique melodic stabs join the dark sinister mood.
This is a very tasty EP by PJ Davy. While many will welcome the a-side after enjoying it on Zabiela’s mix, the b-side will be a welcomed addition to make a pretty strong release.
