- A tough techno label shows its tender side.
- More than 60 releases in, there's still no stopping MORD. The Rotterdam label's rise has gone hand-in-hand with techno's turn to darker sounds and imagery (its early EP titles include Rage, Remedy & The Lash, Rowing Sheep Smile For The Dead and Death Is Not Defeat), having hosted releases from several producers central to techno's move to the dark side (Ansome, UVB, D. Carbone). But Mord's most distinctive moments come when its producers embrace the style's more nuanced forms, as heard on Ritzi Lee's Into The Real. Its deepest track is the digital-only "Transition," a lean, touching loop that might be the dreamiest in Mord's discography. It's the kind of emotional groover you usually only find on the B-side of some '90s techno record, so use this chance to get your hands on a fresh one.
