- A Stuttgart newcomer delivers sunny house to celebrate the latest anniversary of a Berlin institution.
- Stuttgart's Sumo has just put out "Pitti," a track dripping with funk and deep house released as part of a compilation celebrating Sonar Kollektiv's 21st anniversary. Over the years, the Berlin label has released a diverse mix of funk, soul, house and more, standing out against the techno backdrop that many listeners associate with Berlin. "Pitti" channels all those bright influences, opening with chords drenched in sunshine. It exudes tropicana, with a signature deep house closed hi-hat that may conjure a smile. There's a sharp, spiky melody that enters halfway through, but it's soon enveloped by the return of those sunny chords. (Think less Côte d’Azur, more German lake swimming in July, sunning yourself on the muddy banks without a care in the world.) This track is blissed-out with tropical energy, enough to keep you dancing through the winter.
