- Vintage Trance Wax.
- After seven records, you could expect Ejeca's Trance Wax formula—trance anthems slowed and applied to Shed-style broken beats—to get stale. But the strength of the source material, and Ejeca's expert touch, keeps it exciting. The new EP tries something different, including a rework of "Rhythm Of The Night" and a straight-up techno track, but the best tune, "Trance 28," is the one in Trance Wax's original style.
"Trance 28" tackles an artist who hasn't benefited much from trance's reappraisal: BT. (Maybe for good reason—his new output is horrible.) But "Godspeed," which Ejeca reworks, stands up to any old Sasha. This edit latches onto the best parts: the helium vocal snippet, synth notes that feel like ecstasy slowly rushing up through your body and a creamy breakdown. Throw in some chunky drums and a Reese bassline and you've got a bittersweet anthem that could close your next set.
