- Two close friends release an uplifting techno banger.
- We may not have heard Caribou's recent album Suddenly without the involvement of Four Tet, who reportedly egged the Canadian artist on to finish his draft tracks. The longtime friends make for a no-brainer collaboration. This holds up in Four Tet's remix of the feel-good "Never Come Back," taken off Suddenly, complicating the festival-ready track without ever going over the edge. The track opens slowly, with sunny house piano riffs and a mellow acid line, followed by deep chord progressions and cruddy drums. Breezy vocal loops drift in throughout, overlaid by what was once the clear-eyed bridge of the original. Lasting for nearly two minutes, the highlight centers a trippy acid interlude. Cheerful pop is traded for something a bit more leftfield. The result is dynamic.
