- Blissful dub techno structures from the Manchester newcomer.
- The skittering rhythmic sensibility of Livity Sound is scarcely evident on the A-side of Lack's new 12-inch for the label. There's a syncopated kick buried on "Inside," and a minimal house beat on "Machine Club," but both tracks draw their expansive power from Lack's billowing melodic structures. At over ten minutes, "Machine Club" is the EP's subtle, epic centrepiece, with hints of Detroit sci-fi futurism and Shinichi Atobe's delicate, melodic dub techno. The B-side cuts, "Rrrush" and "Shifter," fit more easily alongside Livity's catalogue of idiosyncratic, low-end savvy techno. It's the A-side that makes Inside feel like a groundbreaking release for the label and the young Mancunian both.
