- Fabric has long been producing some great CDs. Both their Fabriclive and Fabric releases have run the gamut of electronic music. From the nuskool of Scratch Perverts to John Digweed's well-branded sound, each disc has given a glimpse at what it must be like to party at the world renowned club.
With Fabric 24, Rob da Bank happily pounces from genre to genre with surprisingly smooth transitions that amplify the disc's eclecticism.
Plastikman bleeds into The Futureheads. Soul Mekanik becomes Michael Mayer. If you're scratching your head already, then I'll blow your mind by telling you that The Fiery Furnaces make an appearance, as well as Pepe Kalle, the Congoese musician of great stature.
I guess Ableton was used to lube up each track for easy entry, and enter easily they do. This album sits easily on headphones and runs headlong into the windows when pumped through your stereo. If you're looking for something a little more coherent, try the Death in Vegas release or Adam Beyer. This disc, however, has the bravado of the man who brought us Lemon Jelly and Groove Armada--a label head who eschews labels, go figure.
