- A junglist-inspired, hardcore-referencing house cut-and-paste.
- There was a hint of Delroy Edwards in Nicky Soft Touch’s releases earlier this year (REAL SHIT and REAL SHIT II), where the Bristol-based producer infused lo-fi, neo-noir aesthetics with Southern rap samples. His latest release Lonely City Sampler for Time is Now, feels more uniquely him, splicing snippets of jungle tapes with his familiar, skittering patterns. Lead track "Lonely City Cut 2" ambles with a medley of stuttered percussion and vocals, and seems set to stay that way. Then, as if out of nowhere, a jet engine roar of a bassline brings a welcome and gnarly interruption, before Nicky reins it back to the cool plod it began with.
