- Self-proclaimed "crunk 'n B" that blurs the boundaries between footwork and house.
- Xyla makes all sorts of electronic music in a San Francisco bedroom, dropping some of the crispiest ambient dance I've heard in quite some time. Their latest track, "On & On," expands on the swirling, pristine formula they explored on 2020's excellent LP Ways. It infuses their signature style with what they describe in the liner notes as "crunk 'n B." Thanks to an intricate drum machine groove, bouncy synth bass and the occasional blissed-out vocal chop, this neon-drenched cut blurs the lines between footwork and easygoing house. It’s funkier than most of their previous output, but Xyla's knack for energetic New Age soundscaping still feels as singular as ever here.
