- Peder Mannerfelt launches his new single series with two versions of one track: one lethal, one lighthearted.
- Peder Mannerfelt's new digital-only PM+ series is meant as a quick and easy outlet for dance floor tracks. It's an ideal format for the Swedish producer, whose single tunes can sometimes pack as many ideas as another producer's EP. With All In Your Hands, he offers two versions of a techno cut based around a staggered snare roll that points to his gift for unorthodox rhythms that never veer too far left.
The "FT Version" is the peak-time, dramatic cut, built on that snare roll that limps forward through each bar like an injured leg, while a kick drum keeps time. It turns hypnotic, almost trippy, through sheer belligerent repetitiveness, as the rhythm section goes through a gauntlet of effects. "FT Version" has a, frankly, stressful breakdown, swampy in spite of all the percussion—a perfect tune to play when you want to make the audience feel like they're in a pressure cooker without the need for overdriven 150 BPM kicks. On a slightly housier tip, the "HD Version" is syncopated and funky, loaded with larger-than-life percussive samples that add lovely splashes of color. It's the tongue-in-cheek counterpart to the A-side's brute force, a mix of quirked-up affect and deadly effectiveness that has become Mannerfelt's calling card.
