- Dee Diggs jumps on a remix that highlights the sound of New York house both then and now.
- Toucan Sounds is a Brooklyn label with a catalog and roster that honours classic New York house music. Their dedication to celebrating this niche continues on their latest release from New York producer Joey Mercedes, "It Goes On (At The Afterparty)." Mercedes typically works in the world of deep house and larger-than-life disco, and his latest release—a sequel to "It Goes On" from his July EP Jump For Joy, Pause For Peace—is a sensual deep house slow-burn.
It doesn't take long to pick up on what kind of afterparty they're talking about once house DJ Dee Diggs whispers through reverb, "What kind of party do you want to have?" Those familiar with the original "It Goes On" will recognize the bright, ascending chords and Brandon Markell Holmes' sugary falsetto. But on this rework the group buildsa new tension with an extra, sizzling bassline and Diggs' catchy closing verse: "Body to body / Beat to beat / After party / You and me." It sounds like she's casting her lust from the heavens.
