- Jessy Lanza channels her new home of Los Angeles with a sunny synth pop track touched by darkness—and a big-room bassline destined for festival play.
- "Don't Leave Me Now" is based around a lyrical cliché, though the music is anything but. Starting on a brisk and peppy house beat, the track features Lanza's now trademark blend of desperation and sunny-day optimism, with upbeat verses followed by a terse chorus repeating the title, where her falsetto becomes more plea than passion. Her production chops are on display, with stuttered fragments peppering the chorus until the track spirals out into oblivion, anchored by a three-note bassline that sounds like it was designed for play at fabric. One of her brashest and most straightforwardly danceable songs yet, "Don't Leave Me Now" was apparently written as a response to a bout of agoraphobia after nearly getting hit by a car on her first days in LA. But it comes out sounding triumphant and self-assured, a slice of glittery synth pop heaven even in the face of adversity.
