- After their hugely successful first album back in 2000 – Bent, the English boys with an interesting reputation – are back with the first single of their new album ’The Everlasting Blink’.
A1 - The SuperStyleDeluxe Remix of Magic Love is up first and is a very interesting take on the original. The deep warped bassline supports the beautiful vocal and ambient electro sounds very well. The vocal breakdown in this production is the true highlight. Well worth checking out for something out of the ordinary.
A2 - Bent’s original mix of Magic Love is nothing short of class, sampling the seventies pop icons Captain and Tenille. It has such a great warming vibe and is a perfectly smooth sounding funky vocal. It’s a well constructed piece of production work that has a very relaxed feel at its rather comforting 119 Bpm.
B1 - Taking home the prize on this release is the 7.42 minutes of production goodness of the West London Deep Remix. This production work by Dave Hedger of WLP will really help sell this release as its deep funky and more upbeat sounds will surely get vocal house loving crowds on their feet. It has some varying touches that polish and refine the original into something that really stands out.
Although this is not on the vinyl release - Ashley Beedle, who has recently remixed The Streets, Kosheen, Blaze and Coloursound of late, has also been caught remixing Bent’s latest work. His take on Bent’s Magic Love is nothing short of incredible. Yes the B side on the vinyl is a great mix but even that fall shorts of Ashley Beedle’s works of art. The first thing you notice with Ashley’s Black Magic remix is the uplifting house sounds together with an echoed version of the vocal. Add to this some great building moments and you have a huge winner. Definitely one of the finest house releases in 2003!
